Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day March 2010

Despite the snow damage the garden is bursting into bloom with the first sunshine - may even be spring??? Apricot and Almond trees are flowering with the white petals drifting down like snow flakes. Wild violets are appearing all over the garden. The little Iris reticulata 'Edward' I planted last autumn have come through and really do have a perfume as promised by the supplier - a sort of sweet violet (but I had to get down on hands & knees to savour it). Hostas have bloomed as never before and I must remember to plant more. But the little daffodils mixed with species crocus are the best - a splash of golden yellow to warm the spirits. These small perfumed daffs grow wild in Sicily - one of the few things that the Cosa Nostra can't control, thank goodness.

It all looks wonderful and very springlike! Let's hope the cold weather and snow have gone for this winter.

How pretty your garden is looking. I know that the little wild violets can become a nuisance, but I luv them anyway. And I like the thought of the small wild daffs being uncontrollable:)

Hiya,
Hostas bloomed already?
Or did you mean Hellebores? such a lot of volets.
Do you ever grow Parma violets?

Oh dear yes I do mean hellebores - well spotted! I have not tried Parma Violets yet but yes I should. They need winter protection and would not be able to survive outdoors in Parma - apparently imported to Italy by the Bourbons from the Mid East or wherever.

Hellebores are blooming everywhere and I see them in your garden too. I just bought my first one when I was up in Dallas this weekend. It is blue. Your blossom is wonderful: a true sign that spring is on the way. Happy Bloom Day.
