October - olive picking

The olive picking season has started early this year - the olives are small and mostly stone due to the lack of rain but they have ripened in the hot autumn weather. Normally it does not start until well into November, but at least the weather is dry now. The specialist olive grove on Isola Polvese where they grow Dolce Agogia have already picked. A couple of local workers come here to to the picking and in a day manage to fill eleven crates - not bad, but it will be interesting to see what sort a yield this gives.

Cara Yvonne,

We picked up our Novello in Trevi the other day. The quality is super! I feel lucky every year at this time - and rich. What could be more rewarding than the fragrance and the taste of an extra vergine, very peppery????? Bacione, Ingrid
