Tired of just looking at the water and with the temperature up in the high 30s I could not resist it any longer. Even though there are diggers and trucks all around and heaps of earth, I went out at first light on Sunday when there was no risk of workmen turning up. I gingerly stepped down the rocks into the water - a lovely 28degrees - and pushed out into the middle of the pond. Just me, birds singing and water boatmen skidding around. No people, no noise, no notices telling me what not to do. Just me and the waterlilies opening in the first sunlight of the day. Perfect.
