Pond life - and heaps of it

The digger has been working very hard and is now joined by a bulldozer. The amounts of earth and rock they are shifting are astounding - far more than anyone had expected. In desperation they have taken dozens of truck-loads away to tip (probably on the building site down the road) as there is nowhere left to put the stuff. And they haven't even started to dig the part where the water will go! All the experts met on site this morning and they have decide to turn the pond layout through 180 degrees to make the digging easier - but I am not sure quite how.
