GBBD April 2011

A sudden change in the weather from darkest winter to scorching sunshine (nearing 30deg) then back to wind and rain. So all my bulbs apart from a few Tulipa clusiana 'Lady Jane' and the faithful blue Muscari have been burned then blown to pieces. But humble plants like Euphorbia characias and Ulex (Gorse) not to mention Medicago and Coronilla glauca are making a splash with their gaudy yellow flowers. Our local version of cherry blossom - the bright pink flowered Cercis is also bringing a splash of light into our spring days. Not pictured are flowering Hawthorn (May Blossom), Spirea Bridal Wreath, Choisya and Viburum Opulis just to name a few.

Happy springtime and thanks to Carol at May dreams Garden for hosting this Bloom Day.

PS First blooms have arrived on the Rosa Banksiae Lutea, Old Blush Chine and Pompon de Paris climbing roses

The pinks are so lovely! They draw you in to want to touch them.

Our weather has been 'difficult'. It was lovely to have the hot sunshine but as you say the tulips didn't like it very much at all! Then that wind.......!
