No, not a dinner of leaves. It is one way of getting your plants to eat up their 'food' and a lot of people recommend it as a supplement to fertilizers in the ground.
I have always been a skeptic of foliar feed - why would the plants drink up through their leaves? Surely better to put it in the ground where their roots are.
Well I have changed my mind: the vines have grown a lot more strongly since they had a dose of foliar feed in their spray and the roses on the ends of the rows have also benefited. So now I am doing the same for all the roses and I think it is doing them good, especially when the weather is so dry they cannot 'drink up' anything through their roots.

My garden is 450m above sea level and temperatures reach over 40 degrees C in summer but drop down to -8 degrees C at times in winter. How to cope with about 50 degrees temperature range? It requires a whole different approach and I cannot find any books that really help, especially regarding cultivation of vegetable & fruit.

Leaves breathe and so it would seem true too that plants take in nourishment through their leaves... sounds like a good method for you. Good luck with your new camera! Do you mind my asking which did you choose? There are underwater cameras you know... that you could take out on the pond... I have a smaller point shoot for taking to waterfalls etc. I should say that even though Nikon is not too good in low light ... my camera can take lovely shots... but why not have it all?

I always forget about foliar feed, even though it sounds eminently sensible. I guess that the needed equipment must be lurking in one of the sheds.
Does it leave a coating? That would put me off. But it makes it eadier to incorporate other sprays at the same time.
I love my Nikon Coolpix 990 and am not about to change after twelve years of it. Heavy, but so nice to use.
As you say, digital is liberating: you can take thousands of pics and choose the best.

The foliar feed I have been using this year goes by the yucky name of 'Uncle Tom's' but is colourless and seems to do its job. I first tried seaweed liquid, which is supposed also to treat the leaf surface so that it photosynthesizes better (how can we tell?), but it is brown and left the plants looking a bit drab.
The camera I ordered from Amazon is just another Canon Ixus but in due course I hope to get a decent digital SLR.
