January - Surprising splashes of colour

At this time of year we are hoping for rain, even more so than in summer. If we don't get rain now then there will be no hope for the hot dry days.
There are surprising moments of colour in what is otherwise a sad grey time with frequent morning mists which can hang around all day. The humble winter jasmine lights up the wall by the front door. Irridescent red berries on the Butchers Broom and the arbutus tree. Cyclamen seeded themselves in camelia's pot with purple flowers above white patterned dark leaves.
